New survey for software companies online!

New survey aims to uncover which strategies for sustainable software development are already in use in the software industry and how these are implemented.

In the project "Potentials of Green Coding" concepts and recommendations for anchoring sustainable software development in the software industry and in higher education are being developed. As part of the project, we have developed a short questionnaire that helps us better understand which strategies for sustainable software development are already in use in the software industry and how these are implemented. This survey adresses all software development companies and can be accessed via the following link:

Software as the basis of the Internet has a significant impact on energy consumption, energy efficiency and the lifespan of hardware and thus on the Internet's energy and resource consumption. Despite its great importance, general regulation or recommendations for sustainable software are still in their infancy. With this survey, we aim to answer the following questions:

  • Which concepts regarding sustainable software development are already known to software companies?
  • Are concrete strategies already being used and if so, which are they and how do they fit into the software development process?
  • How do relevant stakeholders assess the potential of sustainable software development?

The results will be published in spring 2023 in an industry workshop and as a a working paper. Please let us know if you would be interested to participate in our other activities as well.
