SUMMARY:NFDIxCS Soiree #8: New Standards–Conversations on Research Data and
  Software Management
DESCRIPTION:From art to astronomy, from software heritage to field research
  – hardly any area has no interface with the management of research data an
d the use of research software. However, conversations on these topics can
be fairly abstract. \n\nThe team at the University of Potsdam therefore has
conducted interviews with thirteen international minds from a variety of d
isciplines who are implementing best practices in research data and softwar
e management. The insights provide tangible examples of research data and s
oftware management strategies across various fields, serving as brilliant i
llustrations of promoting Open Science and envisioning the future of resear
ch.\n\nExperimenting with science communication formats, the teams at Potsd
am University and the German Informatics Society created a magazine-style c
offee table book to publish these insights in an engaging manner.\n\nJoin u
s online on March 10, 2025 – the International Day of Awesomeness – for the
next NFDIxCS Soiree: Conversations on Research Data and Software Managemen
t: The making of an NFDIxCS coffee table book.\n\nThis session features the
editorial team Jan Bernoth and Firas Al Laban (University of Potsdam), Ale
xandra Resch and Greta Leßmann (German Informatics Society) as well as inte
rview partner Menare Royal Mabakeng (Namibia University of Science and Tech
nology) sharing her approaches, opinions and needs regarding latest and fut
ure developments in research data management.
