SUMMARY:KI-Camp ART + AI WebTalk: Artists at KI-Camp
DESCRIPTION:For the first time, there was a whole theme track dedicated to
Arts and Media at KI-Camp 2021. Three artists have created new AI artworks
from the inspirations and impulses of the KI-Camp. In this WebTalk, Hana Yo
o, Portrait XO and Karim Hegazy will present their works and discuss togeth
er which moods, AI research insights and tools inspired them during the cre
ative process. As part of the KI- Camp 2021 Organizing Team, Paula Böhme wi
ll moderate this conversation with the three artists.\n\nThe speakers:\n\n-
Hana Yoo works with experimental video and film that investigates the natu
re of artificiality and its political entanglement, along with the altered
mental states derived from technical apparatus. She engages with the allego
ry of nature and interrelation of bodies, which she then weaves through sto
rytelling. Investigating liminal matters that stays in between human and no
n-human, living and non-living - such as dead body, livestock, desert, and
machine - has been the fulcrum in her artistic practice. She studied media
art at the Berlin University of Arts and currently works in the Vilém Fluss
er Archive. Her works have shown at museums and festivals including the Fot
omuseum(Winterthur, Switzerland), European Media Art Festival(EMAF), and Bu
san International Video Art Festival(Busan, South Korea) among others.\n\n-
Portrait XO is an interdisciplinary artist based in Berlin.  She researche
s computational creativity, human-machine collaboration, and applications f
or forward-thinking art and music. As a hybrid music artist she explores th
e possibilities of where we can go with AI, sound and new media. She is als
o the founder and Creative Director of the recently formed SOUND OBSESSED,
which is a hybrid arts collective and music label for musicians working at
the intersection of art, sound, science and emerging technologies. She is a
lso a founding member of the IASAS (International Association Synaesthetes,
Artists and Scientists).\n\n- Karim Hegazy is an audio/visual artist, who
began his musical education in 'Sound- and Music Production' at the HdpK an
d co-founded the band 'Lion Sphere' with fellow students in 2013. As a solo
musician Karim began releasing under the name ‘KimoSlice’ where he also pr
acticed his knowledge in sampling and granular synthesis. Not wanting to li
mit himself to music, Karim started reusing and cutting old movies to give
his songs a videographic counterpart. With a high interest in particle gene
rators and generative visuals, Karim explored a variety of digital software
s (Ableton, Adobe Premiere, Touchdesigner, Blender, Unity) to create his au
dio reactive works.\n\n\n\nThe WebTalk will be available via Zoom:\n\nhttps
