DESCRIPTION:Within KI-Camp 2021 for the first time artists are honoured as 
 "AI Newcomers" next to outstanding researchers and professionals in the fie
 ld of AI. On April 27, the AI artists Sofia Crespo and Jake Elwes have been
  awarded in the discipline of Art. Moreover, this year's KI-Camp also featu
 res the exhibition ///hardware almost feels real/, dealing with the proximi
 ty of artificiality and nature in AI, curated by The Real Office. As part o
 f the curatorial team, art theorist Maximilian Lehner will moderate this co
 nversation with the two artists. The talk links the topic of AI with its se
 veral assumed counterparts: nature, human, creative, ...\n\nThe speakers:\n
 \nSofia Crespo is an artist with a focus on artificial life, her practice i
 s driven by a huge interest in biologically-inspired technologies, such as 
 artificial neural networks. One of her main focuses is the way organic life
  uses artificial mechanisms to simulate itself and evolve.\n\nJake Elwes is
  an artist living and working in London. Elwes’s work explores the code, ph
 ilosophy and ethics behind A.I. research, finding poetry and narrative in t
 he successes and failures of these systems. Recent works explore A.I. bias 
 by queering datasets using drag performers.\n\nMaximilian Lehner works as a
  research and teaching assistant at the Institute of Contemporary Arts and 
 Media at KU Linz and co-founded The Real Office (RO) in Stuttgart, an agenc
 y for concepts, funding, and project management in the independent art scen
 e. Maximilian studied art theory and philosophy in Paris, Stuttgart, and Li
 nz, where he currently pursues his doctoral studies. His main research inte
 rests are in the entanglement of temporal structures and socio-political na
 rratives in contemporary art, theories of artistic research, the history of
  art and technology movements, and convergences between new technologies an
