DESCRIPTION:Von Mai bis Dezember wird online das 60. Jubiläum der  Internat
 ional Federation of Information Processing  (IFIP) gefeiert . Die 1960 gegr
 ündete internationale Organisation ist ein Dachverband für über 40 Informat
 ik-Gesellschaften aus aller Welt, darunter auch die GI. Die Organisation ha
 t über 3500 Einzelmitglieder und ermöglicht diesen Expert*innen einen fachl
 ichen Austausch in über 100 Arbeitsgruppen.\n\nUm das 60. Bestehen der Orga
 nisation virtuell zu feiern,  finden von August bis Dezember zehn virtuelle
  Panels zum Thema Future of Information Processing statt. Die Eventreihe wi
 rd von Mitgliedern der IFIP organisiert und gibt Expert*innen eine Bühne, ü
 ber diverse Themen wie autonomes Fahren, Ethik in der Informatik und Cybers
 icherheit zu sprechen. Die Veranstaltungen sind frei zugänglich und Aufzeic
 hnungen werden im Nachgang im Netz zur Verfügung gestellt.\n\nDas sechste E
 vent der Reihe - Autonomous Vehicle Safety and Security: An Information Pro
 cessing Imperative - findet am 18. Oktober um 15 Uhr statt (Veranstaltungss
 pache ist Englisch). \n\nWorldwide, over 1.35 million people lose their liv
 es each year to roadway traffic accidents. Autonomous vehicles have the pot
 ential to drastically reduce this carnage by leveraging breakthrough advanc
 ements in computational power, algorithms and sensing technologies. However
 , there is a significant hurdle: a lack of governance by national regulator
 y bodies to guide dependable and secure design, construction and operation 
 of autonomous vehicles. This panel of global experts, organized by the lead
 ers of a WG10.4 project on this subject, will discuss information processin
 g advancements that are imperative to the realization of highly dependable 
 and secure road vehicles. In addition to discussing technical aspects of su
 ch advancements, they will also debate related societal and ethical issues.

 r the event here.\n\nAbout the Future of Information Processing Event Serie
 s\n\nThe Event Series consists of ten events in total, featuring IFIP exper
 ts and high-level guests discussing questions arising at the intersection o
 f technology and the information society. The events be online panels of 75
  minutes each consisting of short speeches, a moderated discussion and a Q&
 A with the audience. Recordings of the events will be made available on You
 Tube. Information and registration links for the following events will be a
