- The position is part of the new “Digital Geochemical Data Infrastructure” (DIGIS) research group at the University of Göttingen, an extension of the positions for further three years is planned, pending successful follow-up grant application.
Project description and responsibilities: The successful applicant will be responsible for the scientific development of a metadata-model and the interface between the database and the web application platform of GEOROC. This involves the implementation, adaptation and administration of geochemical- and meta-data aspects in the database structure as well as the optimisation the data transfer between the DIGIS database and other geochemical databases as well as to contribute to the development of a new web application platform for the GEOROC database using REST-API. This requires the ability for independent research in, testing and application of statistical methods of research data analysis, visualization and interpretation. Further responsibilities collaboration in the development of a digital data archiving system linked to GEOROC via IGSN and an interactive, web-based user interface. Experience in research in the field of geosciences is advantageous.
