The candidate shall have an internationally recognized track record in research and teaching, including pertinent publications and the successful acquisition of third-party funding. In terms of research, the professorship is to strengthen the department's expertise in digital health applications and should demonstrate for this area relevant work. In addition, the candidate shall have one or more of the following scientific foci: analysis of heterogeneous medical data, context analysis and learning for assistive robotics and analysis of neurophysiological and behavioral data for telemedical applications. A high level of methodological expertise in the field of interpretable and explicable approaches to machine learning is expected, as well as the participation in national and international research networks and active involvement in teaching.

In terms of teaching, the successful candidate will cover the contents and methods of the field of interpretable and explainable learning for all study programmes of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences and contributes its digitization expertise to joint study courses with Jade University. In addition, further development of the School's course offerings in the area of interprofessional training and the future "Health Campus Oldenburg" is desired. Active commitment to the integration of new teaching methods is expected.
